Part 2: Home Page and Navigation System, Final Project

Image
Last week I had only received peer feedback from one student for this project, but the one I got was really useful about removing my email from the top of the contact page which I did.   In order to get feedback and suggestions I consulted family and friends on what they thought and their reactions to my portfolio.   This was helpful to get a few more suggestions which got me to thinking about how I could improve my work. I realized that the home page looked very blank which made it feel uncreative and uninspiring.   In order to fix this, I made a bunch of shapes in Adobe Photoshop and used it as siding for the home page to create a cool frame effect but also make it feel like there is motion happening behind.   Photoshop was very easy to use to create the shapes.   Next, I added a blue square in the middle to match the shapes. I changed the shape around my painting in it to a star shape.   I thought this really help emphasize my acrylic painting o...

Part 1: Project concepts and first draft Website Design & Navigation System

First step was I signed up for Wix and created my account: https://ashleymserafino.wixsite.com/ashleyserafinoportfo/portfolio I selected a bare, minimalist template so that I could have maximum flexibility in creating my site.    I started by finding a basic template. I found one of the temples to be visually pleasing and changed the image to my painting.     The pages I created include a Homepage, About page, Portfolio page and Contact page. I wanted the home page to look simple yet still make people want to check out my art.   On the Homepage, I thought it would be fun to take my Tuxedo Sam painting and use it as a focal point.   I then changed the button to the words “View” with an arrow. After working on the home page, I decided to work on the portfolio tab which is the most important part of the site which shows all your artwork.   I gathered all my images in to Wix and separated them into folders.    The folders I came up w...

AI Photoshop Project

Image
To begin, I first found one of the photos I took on a rail trail this past week and as you can see it is very dull and gloomy since spring is not here yet. I decided to take this winter picture of the trail and use Ai to make a yellow brick road!  I used the 2024 Photoshop AI feature "Select Subject" and I was surprised it ended up selecting the path. The AI made three different paths and I went with the first one, the yellow color was more of an orange so I made a block of the bright yellow and changed the blending mode to Soft light. Then I selected each side of the path and had the AI make red poppy flowers, it took 3 times to generate the poppies correctly because at first they weren’t following the path.   I then had it add a rainbow above the bridge. After that I had it added a bird, because it made the place feel less empty. At this point I realized that the place will look really bland and gray regardless of what I do, and I started adding things randomly. C...
